Airstrike Kills Gaza Hospital Director
An Israeli airstrike in Gaza has killed **Dr. Marwan al-Sultan**, the director of the Indonesia Hospital, along with his wife and children. The attack, which targeted a residential area, has drawn condemnation from the Indonesian government and aid organizations.
Tragic Loss
The Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), which funds the Indonesia Hospital, expressed profound grief over the death of **Dr. al-Sultan** and his family. A volunteer stated, “Our hearts are filled with sorrow, and words cannot express the magnitude of this loss.”
**Dr. Marwan**, an interventional cardiologist, had worked at the Indonesia Hospital in Beit Lahia since 2016, providing care to the sick and wounded. The hospital has been repeatedly struck during Israeli offensives, including drone attacks in May that severely damaged its intensive care units.
Condemnation and Response
MER-C condemned the killing of **Dr. al-Sultan** and his family as “a flagrant violation of humanitarian principles.”
Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry conveyed condolences and denounced the attack, vowing to continue advocating for a ceasefire and monitoring the situation at the Indonesia Hospital.

Indonesia’s Stance
Indonesia has long been a staunch supporter of Palestine. **President Prabowo Subianto** recently reiterated his country’s commitment to stand with Palestine and condemned the use of humanitarian aid blockades as weapons.
During a recent visit to Saudi Arabia, **President Subianto** and Crown Prince **Muhammad bin Salman** jointly rejected the forced relocation of Palestinians, emphasizing that a two-state solution is the path to peace. According to a recent United Nations report, over 1.7 million Palestinians have been displaced since October 2023 (UNRWA).
Ongoing Conflict
Israeli Prime Minister **Benjamin Netanyahu** has vowed to eradicate Hamas, even as the group considers new ceasefire proposals. The conflict, which began in October 2023, has created a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, displacing almost the entire population.
