According to municipal data cited by Le Bien Public, the summer of 2025 served as a critical turning point for the region when the Maladière neighborhood recorded ten local cases of chikungunya. That outbreak forced the city to execute targeted vector control operations, including public mosquito-control spraying in the Mansart district and the distribution of 2,500 complimentary egg-laying traps across the Bourroches-Port-du-Canal and Chevreul-Parc sectors.
