Sean “Diddy” Combs has begun serving his 50-month sentence and has been assigned to laundry duty at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey, according to a report from TMZ published Friday (Oct. 31).The music mogul’s new role involves washing clothes for fellow inmates, marking the start of his incarceration following a high-profile legal battle.
Combs was sentenced in October after being found guilty of two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution. While acquitted of more serious charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking in July, the conviction led to a 50-month prison term, a $500,000 fine-including costs associated with imprisonment-a $5,000 statutory fine, and a $200 special assessment. This development signals the beginning of Combs’ confinement and the implementation of his sentence, following 13 months spent at the brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting trial.
His legal team requested placement at Fort Dix, citing the facility’s ability to address potential substance abuse issues and facilitate family visits and rehabilitation. Combs’ anticipated release date is currently May 8, 2028.
According to Inner City Press, the judge imposed a $500,000 fine, including to defray the costs of imprisonment. There is no restitution, but there is forfeiture as reflected in the order.there is a $5,000 fine under the statute, and a special assessment of $200.
