DC Boss James Gunn Dismisses Teen Titans and Batman 2 Rumors

Breaking: The script for The Batman 2 is anticipated to land on James Gunn‘s desk within days, paving the way for a potential 2026 production start, according to recent reports. This marks a significant step forward for the highly anticipated sequel following a period of growth delays.

The continuation of Robert Pattinson‘s portrayal of the Dark Knight is a key component of Gunn’s revamped DC Universe (DCU), a multi-platform initiative aiming to create a cohesive and interconnected narrative across film and television. Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, has emphasized the importance of strong scripts as a prerequisite for moving forward with major projects like The Batman 2 and a new Wonder Woman film.

Gunn stated that filming will “immediately” begin once the script is finalized, signaling a commitment to prioritizing quality and a streamlined production process.The first The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and released on March 4, 2022, grossed $770.8 million worldwide, becoming the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2022.Reeves is returning to direct the sequel.

Beyond The Batman 2, the DCU slate includes the upcoming live-action Teen Titans series, and The Brave and the Bold, a separate Batman project intended to introduce the Bat-Family – specifically Damian Wayne as Robin – into the DCU. Currently,the lead actor for The Brave and the Bold remains unconfirmed. Gunn has revealed that a total of nine DC projects are currently in various stages of development.

The next DC release is Peacemaker season 2, scheduled to premiere on August 21 on HBO Max in the United States and Sky in the United Kingdom. The series, starring John cena, continues the story following the events of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021).
