Darren Criss and Chris Colfer Reunite for First Time in a Decade at London Concert
Darren Criss and Chris Colfer reunited on stage for the first time in more than a decade on Sunday night (Oct. 18) at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The surprise performance brought together the former Glee co-stars, who played on-screen couple Blaine Anderson and Kurt Hummel during the Fox musical comedy’s run.
Darren Criss Solos a Glee Duet Before Chris Colfer Appears
Criss made his debut at the iconic London venue with two back-to-back performances. Before Colfer joined him on stage, Criss teased the crowd by attempting to sing both parts of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” a duet the two characters performed in the season 2 episode “A Very Glee Christmas.” That track originally peaked at No. 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 2010.
“I’m gonna do my best to sing both parts,” Criss told the audience. A few lines into the song, Colfer emerged to cheers from the crowd.
“Hey, Darren!” Colfer said. Criss responded, “It’s been awhile!” The pair had not performed together since Glee wrapped its seven-season run in 2015. “Do you know the words to this?” Criss asked, prompting Colfer to reply, “I do.”
Surprise Guests Join London Royal Albert Hall Debut
The reunion with Colfer was part of a larger lineup of guest appearances during Criss’s Royal Albert Hall debut. Alan Cumming joined Criss for ABBA’s “Does Your Mother Know,” while Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo performed “Lost Boys Life,” an original song Criss wrote with his late brother, Chuck Criss, for their band Computer Games.
Sarah Hyland performed “Suddenly Seymour” from Little Shop of Horrors, and her Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson took on Adele’s “Someone Like You.” Criss also revisited his pre-Glee viral roots by performing “Goin’ Back to Hogwarts” from A Very Potter Musical alongside stage performers Alex Newell, Jak Malone, Natasha Hodgson, and Andrew Barth Feldman.
For the grand finale, Criss performed Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” with a local youth choir.
