Dani Dyer Withdraws From ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ After Ankle Fracture
London, UK – September 18, 2023 – Dani Dyer has exited Strictly Come dancing after sustaining a fractured ankle during rehearsals, the BBC has confirmed. the television personality, 29, discovered the extent of her injury following an MRI scan on Monday, forcing her to withdraw from the competition before the first live show.
Dyer,who rose to fame on Love Island,was partnered with professional dancer nikita Kuzmin and had already participated in the pre-recorded launch show broadcast on Saturday. She explained in a statement, “I had a fall on Friday in rehearsals and landed funny. I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly over the weekend and after an MRI scan yesterday, it turns out I have fractured my ankle.” She added,”Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable (!!) and the doctors have saeid I am not allowed to dance so l’ve had to pull out of the show.”
The news marks the second celebrity departure from the series before the competition begins, following Game of Thrones actor Kristian Nairn’s withdrawal. Strictly Come Dancing‘s executive producer, Sarah James, expressed sadness over Dyer’s exit, stating that her partnership with kuzmin had “got off to the most sensational start.” James added, “Everyone on the show is incredibly sad that she’s no longer able to compete in this year’s series.”
Dyer shared her disappointment in a tearful video posted to Instagram, saying she was “heartbroken” and “absolutely gutted.” she indicated she would be taking a break from social media while recovering.
Fellow Strictly professionals and judge shirley Ballas have offered well wishes. Ballas posted on Instagram, “I’m so so sorry.But health is most important.Get well soon Angel.” Dianne Buswell and Johannes Radebe also expressed their support online.
