Dancing With the Stars Season 35 Horror Movie Night Recap: Double Elimination and First Perfect Score
On Tuesday night, Dancing With the Stars aired its seventh week of competition with a horror movie theme, resulting in the double elimination of Jackson Olson and Emma Slater alongside Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The elimination followed a week where no couples left the ballroom, combining judges’ scores and viewer votes from both Dedication Night and Horror Movie Night to determine the final standings.
Scores and Leaderboard Standings After Two Weeks
The combined totals from Dedication Night and Horror Movie Night placed Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson at the top of the leaderboard with 76 out of 80 points. Amber Glenn and Pasha Pashkov tied with Jenna Dewan and Val Chmerkovskiy for second place at 74 points. Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach followed in fourth place with 72 points, while Connor Wood and Rylee Arnold secured fifth place with 69 points.
At the lower end of the combined standings, Jackson Olson and Emma Slater tied with Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas at 67 points, leading to Olson’s elimination. Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa accumulated 62 points, Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik finished with 60 points, and Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess rounded out the bottom with 58 points, resulting in Cameron’s exit from the competition.
During Horror Movie Night itself, Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson earned the first perfect score of season 35, receiving four 10s for their routine set to “Toxic” by 2WEI, inspired by Saw. Guest judge Shirley Ballas joined the panel for the evening and issued a score of four to Julia Stiles and Ezra Sosa, as well as Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik, noting a lack of “tracing” on the dance floor for Stiles.
Val Chmerkovskiy Returns to the Ballroom
Val Chmerkovskiy returned to the competition after serving a one-week suspension. The suspension stemmed from an allusion he made to Will Smith’s Oscars slap while critiquing Carrie Ann Inaba’s judging of his wife, Jenna Johnson, during a previous episode. In a pretaped video package before their Argentine tango inspired by zombie films, Chmerkovskiy apologized to Jenna Dewan, stating that she did not sign up for the resulting chaos. Dewan accepted the apology, and Inaba later commended Chmerkovskiy on his choreography during the live show.

Looking ahead to the following week, Alfonso Ribeiro announced that Cynthia Erivo will join the judges’ panel as a guest judge for a Disney-themed episode. Season 35 continues to air on Tuesdays, simulcasting across ABC and Disney+ while streaming the following day on Hulu.
