PGA Tour Gains New Member as LIV Golf Roster Shifts
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – Englishman Alex Brown has officially secured PGA Tour membership following a recent roster move within LIV Golf. Brown was elevated to the No. 10 position on the PGA Tour’s priority standings after laurie Canter declined his membership to join the Majesticks team in LIV Golf.
Canter’s decision to sign with Majesticks GC, announced this week, created the opening for Brown. “Joining Majesticks GC is an astonishing prospect to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV golf from day one,” Canter stated in a press release. “The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour. To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honor, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition and identity that really resonates with me. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”
Brown, previously ranked No. 11 on the PGA Tour priority standings, reflected on his journey, noting in an instagram post that he would have once accepted a much lower ranking. “When all is said and done,” he wrote, “I never actually thought ever in my life that I would reach this level.”
This season, Brown achieved six top-10 finishes on the DP World Tour and secured his second career DP World tour title at the BMW International Open in July. Currently ranked 75th in the world, Brown gained prominence last year with a strong showing at the Open Championship, finishing tied for 10th after entering the final round in contention.
Brown shared his excitement about the development on Instagram, calling it a “dream update.” His background includes a father in the pig business and a mother working as a mortgage advisor, and he famously lit a cigarette and took a selfie with fans after his tee shot on the 18th hole during the third round of the 2024 open Championship.
