Dale Steenbergen Resigns as Greater Cheyenne Chamber CEO to Lead Wichita Chamber
After steering the regional business community for nearly twenty years, Dale Steenbergen is stepping down from his role as president and CEO of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce to lead the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce in Kansas.
Steenbergen has anchored the Cheyenne business community since 2007. He will officially take over leadership of the Kansas chamber on December 1.
Two Decades of Economic Advocacy in Wyoming
During his tenure, Steenbergen emerged as a prominent voice for business, pushing for workforce initiatives, regulatory reform, and economic competitiveness across the state. His leadership also extended to the Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce and the Wyoming Retail Association.
One of his defining efforts involved positioning Cheyenne and F.E. Warren Air Force Base for the U.S. Air Force Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile modernization program. That defense initiative stands as a major long-term economic development driver for southeastern Wyoming. He also served as Wyoming’s representative in regional passenger rail initiatives.
Under his direction, the local chamber secured Five-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Steenbergen also gained appointment to the U.S. Chamber’s Association Committee of 100 and earned recognition as the 2020 Wyoming Chamber Executive of the Year alongside the Cheyenne Board of Realtors’ 2011 Business Leader of the Year honor.
Transition Plans for the Cheyenne Chamber
Steenbergen acknowledged that leaving the capital city after nearly two decades was a difficult choice.

Cheyenne has been home for nearly 20 years, and the relationships we’ve built here mean a great deal to me.
Steenbergen said in a statement. He added that the organization remains in capable hands as he prepares for his move to Wichita.
Greater Cheyenne Chamber Board Chairman Tim Thornell commended Steenbergen for his ability to connect business leaders, policymakers, and community partners. Meanwhile, the Chamber Board of Directors plans to name an interim president and CEO shortly. The board will simultaneously launch a national search to find a permanent successor to lead the organization forward.
