Da Costa Wins 2026 Jeddah E-Prix: Race Results & Highlights | Formula E

February 14, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

António Félix da Costa of Jaguar TCS Racing ended his victory drought in the 2026 Jeddah E-Prix Round 5 on Saturday, securing his first win with the team and his first since the 2024 Portland E-Prix. Da Costa finished 2.5 seconds ahead of Sébastien Buemi (Envision Racing), with reigning champion Oliver Rowland (Nissan Formula E) completing the podium.

The race, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, proved to be energy-critical, with several drivers vying for the lead throughout. Da Costa strategically utilized his two mandatory 350kW, all-wheel drive ATTACK MODE boosts, gaining a crucial gap during the second activation round that he maintained to the finish. This marks the sixth win in nine races for Jaguar TCS Racing this season, according to reports from Motorsport Week and fiaformulae.com.

Buemi’s strategy involved leading the race to mitigate risks, aiming to avoid collisions or damage that have plagued other drivers. “I decided to lead the race just to avoid the carnage a little bit, avoid a puncture or damaging the wing,” Buemi stated, as reported by Motorsport Week. “If you fight for P3 or P4 it’s a jungle out there!” He acknowledged Da Costa’s superior energy management as a key factor in the Portuguese driver’s victory.

Rowland, who struggled in the previous two races, credited a significant overnight adjustment to his car setup for his return to the podium. “Yesterday I was pulling my hair out!” Rowland said, according to Motorsport Week. “Last night we changed quite a lot of stuff, so I’m really pleased to be back on the podium.” He suggested a different ATTACK MODE strategy might have allowed him to challenge Da Costa for the win, but expressed satisfaction with third place.

Edoardo Mortara of Mahindra Racing secured fourth place, despite starting from pole position for the second consecutive race. Dan Ticktum (Brit) narrowly beat teammate Pepe Martí for fifth place in a close finish. Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) finished seventh, while Pascal Wehrlein, yesterday’s winner, placed eighth. Jean-Éric Vergne (Citroen) and Taylor Barnard (DS PENSKE) rounded out the top ten.

In the Drivers’ Championship standings, Wehrlein maintains a six-point lead over Mortara, 68 to 62. Rowland is currently third with 49 points. Porsche leads the FIA Teams’ World Championship with 113 points, followed by Jaguar TCS Racing with 86 points in the FIA Manufacturers’ World Championship standings.

“This one feels good!” Da Costa said after the race, as reported by fiaformulae.com. “Changing teams is a massive workload and there’s a lot of things to learn and new faces and names. I’m happy to get this done by race five.” He described a tense final lap, with alarms flashing on his dashboard, but ultimately felt confident in his ability to secure the win.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will continue with Round 6 in Madrid on March 21st, 2026, at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama.
