Chytil Called Up to Czech National Team Ahead of Gibraltar Clash
Olomouc, Czech Republic – November 15, 2025 – Striker Mojmír Chytil has been added to the Czech Republic national team roster for MondayS World Cup qualification match against Gibraltar, the Czech Football Association (FAČR) announced today. The move comes as a response to heel issues currently affecting forward Tomáš Choré.
The 26-year-old Chytil, who plays for Slavia Prague, brings a wealth of international experience with 18 appearances and six goals for the national team. He last featured for the Czech Republic exactly one year ago,in a League of Nations match against Georgia, also played in Olomouc – the same venue for Monday’s game.
Chytil debuted for the Czech team three years prior at Hané, scoring a hat trick in his first start against the faroe islands, contributing to a 5-0 victory. His addition provides coach Jaroslav Köstl with further attacking options alongside Václav Sejk and Patrik Schick, who recently recovered from a virus.
“We need to have options up front, and Mojmír’s experience and goal-scoring ability are valuable assets,” said Köstl, reacting to Choré’s injury. “He knows the habitat in Olomouc well, and we’re confident he can contribute.”
Monday’s match will conclude the group stage of World Cup qualification for the Czech Republic, who have already secured second place and a spot in the March play-offs. The team is also aiming to improve thier seeding for the play-off draw, hoping to secure a home semi-final.
The Czech team, following a 1-0 victory over San Marino on Thursday in Köstl’s debut as head coach, trained in Ostrava at the Bazaly stadium this morning before traveling by train to Olomouc. Midfielder Lukáš provod remains unavailable due to health reasons, leaving Köstl with a 23-player squad.
