Östersund,Sweden – The Czech women’s biathlon team will field a strategic lineup for Sunday’s relay in Östersund, prioritizing development and shielding key athletes from pressure, according to team officials. The decision comes as the team navigates a demanding early-season schedule and assesses athlete readiness for the remainder of the World Cup circuit.
The relay will feature a mix of experienced competitors and rising stars, with the coaching staff deliberately opting to rest Tereza Vinklárková and strategically positioning athletes to gain valuable race experience. While the team is confident in the abilities of all its athletes, coaches acknowledge the need to manage expectations and protect certain individuals from the intense scrutiny that accompanies high-stakes competition. Specifically, the team is aiming to minimize pressure on Eva Charvátová,believing a less prominent role will allow her to perform more freely.
The team’s order will see Jessica Jislová lead off, followed by Anna Tórzová, Barbora Krejčová, and Lucie Charvátová bringing it home. “We want to give these athletes a chance to shine in a relay setting,” explained a team spokesperson. “It’s a great possibility for them to build confidence and gain experience.”
Mixed doubles and the men’s fours relay are also scheduled for Sunday in Östersund, continuing a busy weekend of biathlon competition. The coaching staff will continue to evaluate athlete performance and adjust strategies as the season progresses.
