Cyclist Dies: Hit-and-Run in Meath – Witnesses Sought

Cyclist Dies in Hit-adn-Run Collision in County Meath

Batterstown, Co. Meath – An 80-year-old cyclist has died after being struck in a hit-and-run incident in Batterstown,Ballivor,county Meath,on Friday morning.

Gardaí (Irish police) and emergency services responded to the scene of the collision on the R156 road at approximately 9:59 a.m. The vehicle involved did not remain at the scene.

The cyclist was found unresponsive and transported to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he was pronounced deceased.

The R156 remains closed as Gardaí conduct a forensic examination of the area.

Authorities are appealing for details from the public, with a particular focus on the movements of heavy goods vehicles – both rigid and articulated trucks – in the vicinity during the time of the incident.

Road users who were travelling in the Batterstown, Ballivor area between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Friday are urged to review any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, and provide it to Gardaí.
