Crystal Glass Cups and Portable Bed Rails Recalled, KUTV Reports

October 20, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Two October 15 Product Recalls Target Glass Cups and Bed Rails Over Injury and Death Hazards

Two separate consumer product recalls announced on October 15 involve household items that could cause serious injuries or death, KUTV reported. The actions cover approximately 600 crystal glass cups containing loose stone chips and about 200 adult portable bed rails failing structural stability standards.

The first recall affects roughly 600 crystal glass cups distributed by Loving Thyself Rocks. These double-walled vessels contain loose stone chips situated between the glass layers, creating a structural vulnerability where the inner wall can fracture during use. According to KUTV, the company received one report of a cup breaking while an individual was drinking from it, though no injuries were documented in connection with the incident.

The affected glassware was marketed and sold directly by Loving Thyself Rocks, through its associated Instagram accounts, and via Etsy between April 2026 and September 2026, with retail prices ranging from $20 to $50. Consumers possessing these items are instructed to immediately cease use and register with the vendor for a full refund. The mandated disposal protocol requires customers to write the word “RECALL” onto the cup using a permanent black marker, submit a photograph of the marked item, and attest that the physical object has been properly discarded.

A separate enforcement action targets approximately 200 units of Xalirium adult portable bed rails manufactured by usOpal. Distributed via Amazon between February 2026 and August 2026 for approximately $60, these units present severe safety risks, including entrapment hazards and the potential for deadly asphyxiation if a user becomes wedged within the rail opening or between the structure and the mattress.

The usOpal bed rails also fail federal structural-stability requirements and lack mandatory retention straps, creating an elevated fall hazard alongside missing warning labels. The recalled hardware features white frames, black foam grips, and black fabric pouches, applying strictly to models lacking vertical bars inside the opening. While no injuries or incidents have been reported to date, owners must stop using the equipment immediately and contact usOpal.

Disposal requirements for the portable bed rails mandate that consumers cut the storage bag, straps, and foam padding, permanently mark both upper and lower rails with the word “RECALLED,” submit photographic proof of the destruction, and discard the remainder of the product.
