Cristiano Ronaldo Flees Saudi Arabia? Jet Lands in Madrid Amid Conflict

March 3, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet, a Bombardier Global Express valued at approximately £61 million, departed Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at 8:00 p.m. Local time on Monday and landed in Madrid, Spain, nearly seven hours later, according to flight tracking data.

The departure follows a series of Iranian drone strikes targeting Saudi Arabia, including an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh. Iranian state media also reported a strike on a command building in Bahrain, escalating tensions in the region. The attacks mark the fourth day of heightened conflict, prompting concerns for the safety of foreign nationals in the Middle East.

Ronaldo, who plays for Al Nassr, resides in Riyadh with his partner, Georgina Rodriguez and their five children. The sudden departure of his aircraft has fueled speculation that he may be leaving the country amid the escalating regional instability.

News outlets including the Daily Mail and Euronews reported the flight’s trajectory, confirming the jet’s arrival in Madrid. The Gamereactor UK noted the timing of the departure coincided with the drone attack on the U.S. Embassy.

While no official statement has been released regarding Ronaldo’s reasons for leaving Saudi Arabia, the incident underscores a growing sense of unease among international residents as the conflict intensifies. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has paused all matches in the region, further highlighting the impact of the conflict on sporting events.
