Last Thursday, the Sports Salle of Sports welcomed a preparation meeting for the 2025 pink October edition. She brought together local actors engaged in this cause, Brigitte Dursus, project leader, representatives of associations Bouge your ideas (BTI), Cousons Brodons, the municipal library, and volunteers involved in various creation and fundraising activities.
For the past two years, these associations have been mobilizing to support the fight against breast cancer through activities of making personalized pockets, also called “pochouettes”, intended for the Curie Institute. Last year, a hundred varied handmade pockets were sent (medical pockets, toothbrush cases, dirty linen bags, etc.). These creations were offered to women with the disease during visits to the Institute, bringing a touch of support and solidarity.
At the same time, another initiative led by BTI, in partnership with the town hall, local merchants and the Lycée Philippe Cousteau, consists in selling small pink pouches, pens, bracelets and broches in support of Pink October. These sales have made it possible to raise funds for the league against cancer, during creative workshops, makeup stands, solidarity steps and “aperose”.
For 2025, the project is more ambitious. The merger of the two initiatives aims to multiply the creations of pockets, in the collective workshop or at home, thanks to tutorials made available. The pockets should be available before September 25. Two collective workshop sessions are scheduled: Thursday, July 17 and Sunday, September 14.
A festive event will take place on Saturday October 11 at the Sports Plaine, with stands, creation, walking and conviviality, in order to strengthen awareness and fundraising. Any participation, even by donation of equipment (fabrics, buttons, zippers), is welcome.
