Lorenzini began his political journey in 1998 when he was elected as a deputy. He represented district No. 17 of the Maule region. He was re-elected four times, ultimately leaving Parliament in 2018. Moreover, he held the position of President of the Chamber of Deputies between 2004 and 2005.

In 2020, Lorenzini made public his decision to leave the Christian Democracy party after 45 years of membership. He expressed his desire to act independently, guided by his own conscience. He sought to have freedom of action in his decisions.
