Woman Dead, Officer Injured in Columbus Officer-Involved Shooting
COLUMBUS, Neb. – A woman has died following an officer-involved shooting that also left an officer injured near a funeral home in Columbus on Saturday. The incident prompted an extensive investigation by authorities.
troopers were dispatched to the scene around 5:15 p.m. to assist the Columbus Police Department with an ongoing incident. Upon arrival, officers encountered a situation where a woman reportedly attacked an officer with a knife, resulting in an injury to the officer. In response, another officer discharged their firearm, striking the woman.
Despite efforts by officers on the scene to provide aid, the woman was pronounced deceased at the location. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.
