country star Cody Johnson underwent surgery this week, leading to the postponement of several tour dates, according to a post shared Tuesday on X, formerly known as Twitter. Johnson, 38, shared a video revealing a bandage over his left ear and stating the surgery “went well, as best as they could have expected.” He indicated that without the procedure, recovery would have taken months.
The surgery impacts Johnson’s performance schedule, including two previously postponed shows in Columbus, Ohio. He is currently scheduled to return to performing in February and will headline the Stagecoach Festival in April alongside Post Malone and Lainey Wilson. It remains unclear if he will be able to attend the CMA Awards on Nov. 19, where he is nominated for four awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year for his collaboration with Carrie Underwood, “I’m Gonna love You.”
Johnson rose to prominence with hits like “Til You Can’t,” “Human,” “Long Live Cowgirls,” and “dirt Cheap,” winning Best New Country Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2023 after nearly two decades as an autonomous artist. He most recently performed in Syracuse at the upstate Medical University Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial in 2023.
