Irish authorities have seized 55 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of €3.85m ($4.5m) at the Port of Cork. The drugs were discovered by customs officers using sniffer dogs during a routine inspection of a container that had arrived from Central America. Two men in their 30s have been arrested and are being held at a Cork police station. The Irish Revenue’s Customs Service said the seizure was part of ongoing operations targeting organised crime gangs. The seizure comes amid a wave of drug-related violence across Ireland, with two men shot dead in Dublin last week.
