Interception and Destruction of Drones Over Riyadh and a Ballistic Missile in the Southern Region
The coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen announced the interception and destruction of two unmanned aerial vehicles over the Riyadh region. The military action followed a series of escalating aerial engagements across the Kingdom, coinciding with ongoing ground clashes in Yemen.
The Joint Forces Command stated that air defense systems neutralized the two drones targeting the capital. The operation occurred amid heightened regional security measures and direct military countermeasures against Houthi aerial threats.
Ballistic Missile Intercepted Over Southern Region
In a related escalation, the coalition announced the destruction of a Houthi ballistic missile fired toward the southern region of Saudi Arabia. Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the coalition forces, confirmed that air defense units intercepted and destroyed the incoming ballistic missile. The coalition also reported the destruction of another drone launched toward the southern region late Sunday.

These defensive actions parallel targeted military operations conducted by the coalition to neutralize vital sources utilized by the Houthi movement. The coalition released footage documenting strikes on sources in the Hodeidah and Dhamar governorates used to support military operations.
Meanwhile, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed via social media that Saudi warplanes launched 75 airstrikes and missiles across multiple Yemeni governorates, including Saada, Taiz, Amran, Ibb, Dhamar, Lahij, Hodeidah, and Al-Jawf. The reported strikes involved F-15 and Typhoon aircraft operating from airbases in Khamis Mushait and Taif.
Ground Advances in Bab al-Mandab and Civil Defense Measures
On the ground in Yemen, security sources reported that the Southern Giants Brigades and Nation Shield forces advanced toward northern Dhabab and the Al-Omari camp in the southwestern part of Taiz Governorate, as detailed by Al-Madina. This strategic coastal sector overlooks the Bab al-Mandab strait and the Red Sea. Concurrently, Civil Defense announced the removal of danger in Najran, Taif, Abha, and Khamis Mushait following early warning broadcasts regarding potential aerial risks.
The European Union reiterated its condemnation of the ongoing Houthi escalation, labeling recent attacks in Yemen and against the Kingdom as “heinous acts”. The European Union called for an immediate cessation of all military operations and urged external actors, including Iran, to halt military support for the Houthi movement in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
