Chybík + Krištof Launches Open Call for Four Berlin Projects
Berlin municipal authorities, property owners, and local community initiatives have until October 11, 2026, to submit urban sites for transformation as the architecture studio CHYBÍK + KRIŠTOF converts the Aedes Architecture Forum into a temporary working studio, chybiks-kristof.com reported. The initiative, titled “4 Transformations for Berlin,” invites proposals for up to four distinct projects across the German capital to be collaboratively developed during a six-week exhibition running from October 22 to December 3, 2026.
Berlin Open Call Sets Eligibility and Deadlines
Submissions must connect to an identifiable existing building, urban area, public space, or development proposal. The application window closes sharply at 23:59 CEST on October 11, 2026.
Eligible applicants include public institutions, property owners, housing organizations, cultural and educational groups, sports bodies, and local neighborhood initiatives. Architects and urban planners may participate as co-applicants or partners provided a responsible stakeholder is attached to carry the project forward. Participation in the six-week collaborative studio process is free of charge.
Four Strategic Themes for Urban Development
Proposals submitted to the studio must fall within one or more of four designated thematic areas: PLAY, LIVE, ADAPT, and ACTIVATE. These categories are designed to address housing shortages, public space utilization, cultural infrastructure, community life, and the adaptive reuse of existing structures across Berlin’s diverse districts. Projects selected for the program will receive a formal analysis of their transformation potential, direct working sessions with the CHYBÍK + KRIŠTOF team, and an initial architectural study or strategic transformation concept.
The working process inside the Aedes gallery will incorporate ongoing dialogue with invited experts and local stakeholders. Final concepts and ongoing work will be presented to the public as part of the exhibition’s accompanying public program, offering a transparent look at how urban interventions take shape in practice.
Studio Installation Opens in October
The temporary studio installation opens at Aedes – Architecture and Space in Berlin on October 22, 2026, marking the official start of the collaborative design phase for the four chosen proposals. The intensive workshop period runs through December 3, 2026, culminating in public presentations of the completed strategic concepts and architectural studies developed during the residency.
