China ‍Pledges Support ⁣to Afghanistan Following Devastating Earthquake

Beijing, ⁤China china has pledged meaningful ⁤aid and support to Afghanistan following the recent earthquake that struck late on August 31st. Lin‌ Jian,spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign ‌Affairs,announced Monday that China stands ready​ to help Afghanistan navigate this challenging time and deliver crucial rescue⁣ assistance to affected⁣ areas.

Responding to questions at⁤ a regular press briefing, Lin detailed China’s swift response to the disaster. President xi Jinping expressed his deep condolences for the loss of ⁤life and extended sympathy to ‍those impacted during the Shanghai Cooperation‌ Organization (SCO) plus meeting in Tianjin on September 1st. He ​wished‌ the Afghan government and people strength in overcoming this difficult period.

To that end, ⁢the chinese government has committed 50 million yuan (approximately $7.04 million) in emergency humanitarian aid. This aid package includes essential supplies such as ‌tents, blankets, tarpaulins, and food, all urgently needed by those affected.

The​ first shipment of​ aid arrived in Kabul by plane on Sunday, with further deliveries planned in the ​coming days. Beyond the government’s contribution, the Chinese Embassy, various Chinese institutions, and the Association of Overseas Chinese ‍in Afghanistan have mobilized to collect funds and donate emergency equipment. ⁤The Chinese Red Cross has also provided financial assistance to the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
