Chilean Market Beckons Polish Businesses with Duty-Free Access and Growth Potential
Santiago, Chile is currently hosting EtMDay 2025, Latin America’s largest innovation and investment event, where the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) is showcasing opportunities for Polish companies.Entrepreneurs from the Lower Silesia region are also participating, leveraging the “Going Global – internationalization of Lower Silesian Enterprises” project.
A key advantage for Polish businesses entering the Chilean market is the EU-Chile Association Agreement established in 2003, which eliminates customs duties on Polish products and services. According to PAIH officials, this creates a level playing field where innovation is rewarded.
Chile is proving to be a fertile ground for Polish enterprise. In 2024, exports from Poland to chile reached EUR 241 million – a volume comparable to trade with Indonesia, Norway, Nigeria, Cyprus, or Georgia. While KGHM’s Sierra Gorda copper mine represents the largest Polish investment in Chile (ranking as the twelfth largest copper mining company in the country), a diverse range of Polish companies are already establishing a presence. These include branches of XTB and Comarch, and also businesses specializing in bicycle manufacturing, food products, and cosmetics.
PAIH highlights particular receptiveness within the Chilean market for innovative technologies focused on environmental protection, mining solutions, and advancements in the fishing industry. EtMDay 2025, taking place November 20-22, 2025, will focus on sectors like FinTech, HealthTech, AgTech, EdTech, Clima Tech, and cybersecurity, offering a platform for Polish companies to present cutting-edge solutions and forge new partnerships.
The Chilean market, with its extensive network of free trade agreements, is positioned as a prime location for Polish companies seeking international expansion and competitive advantage.
