Chivas’ Milito Likely to Part Ways with ‘Chicharito‘ Despite National Classic Goal
Guadalajara, Mexico – Despite scoring in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Club América in the latest edition of the National Classic, forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernández is reportedly unlikely to be offered a contract extension by Club Deportivo Guadalajara, according to sources. The tie, played in the united States during the October FIFA break, saw goals from Hernández and Víctor Dávila in a closely contested match.
Hernández’s current contract with Chivas expires in December. While the former Manchester United and Real Madrid player was among the most productive on the field during the match, his overall performance since returning to Liga MX has fallen short of expectations, leading coach Gabriel Milito to reportedly exclude him from plans for the next campaign.
The decision comes as Chivas prepares for the closing of the Regular Phase of the Apertura Tournament 2025.
Fan criticism of Hernández, known as the “Sacred Flock,” has been mounting, with supporters expressing disappointment in his impact on the team’s competitiveness as his return to the league.
