Additional Snowfall Expected for Chicago Area After Record November Storm
Chicago-area residents should prepare for another round of snowfall, wiht 2 to 4 inches forecast to fall through Tuesday evening, according to the National Weather Service. This comes less than a week after a historic snowstorm blanketed the city, marking the snowiest November day on record.
The anticipated snowfall will add to the challenges already faced by commuters and city services following Saturday’s storm, which deposited nearly 9 inches of snow in some areas. The city initiated it’s winter parking ban on Monday, leading to the towing of vehicles to accommodate snow removal efforts. The ongoing winter weather underscores the importance of preparedness for Chicagoans as the season progresses.
Meteorologist Jake Petr reported Tuesday will remain “cold and dry through the day,” with temperatures in the mid- to low-20s. However, the approaching snow system is expected to bring additional accumulation.
O’Hare International Airport recorded 8.4 inches of snow on Saturday and 0.3 inches on Sunday, while Midway Airport received 7.2 inches as of Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday’s snowfall surpassed previous records for a single November day in Chicago.
City officials have not yet announced any changes to the existing winter parking ban. Residents are advised to monitor local news and weather updates for the latest facts and to exercise caution while traveling.
