Prosecutor Announces intent too Seek Death Penalty in Charlie Kirk Murder Case
OREM, Utah – The prosecutor in the case of Charlie kirk, the conservative influencer fatally shot on September 10, announced on September 16 his intention to pursue the death penalty against the alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson. Robinson remains in detention without the possibility of bail.
The declaration came during a press conference where the prosecutor detailed new evidence suggesting Robinson deliberately concealed a firearm used in the shooting. According to authorities, Robinson exchanged messages with his roommate admitting to leaving a gun wrapped in a towel at the scene. Following the shooting, Robinson wrote to his roommate, “I had planned to get my gun shortly after, but most of this neighborhood was completed. It’s calm, almost enough to go out, but there is a vehicle linger.” He continued, “I will try to recover it hoping that they left. I have not seen anything that indicates that they found it…I can get closer, but there is a police car parked right next to it. I think they have already searched this place, but I don’t want to take a risk.” Robinson then requested his roommate delete the incriminating conversation.
The prosecutor also stated Robinson told his parents that Kirk conveyed ”too much hatred.” Robinson reportedly wrote to his roommate, “I am enough of this hatred. There is a hatred with which one cannot compromise.”
Kirk, an ultra-conservative influencer, was assassinated while participating in a public debate on the University of Utah Valley campus. Robinson was arrested at 10 p.m. on September 11, approximately 33 hours after the shooting. No lawyer has been listed for Robinson in Utah court records.
