chargers Running Back Najee Harris Suffers Season-ending Injury
Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris is out for the remainder of the 2025 season after sustaining an injury during Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, head coach jim Harbaugh confirmed. The injury marks a significant blow to the Chargers’ offensive plans, as Harris was viewed as a crucial component of their success this year.
Harris, who joined the Chargers as a free agent in March, had been steadily increasing his workload after recovering from a July 4th fireworks incident that caused damage to his eye. Despite the setback, he was ready for the season opener and showed promise in Sunday’s game, leading the team with six carries for 28 rushing yards before exiting. Harbaugh expressed his disappointment, stating, ”It’s unfortunate… he was really playing good,” and added confidently, “Najee will be back, I have no doubt about it.”
prior to joining the Chargers, Harris established himself as a durable and productive running back, reaching the 1,000-yard rushing mark in each of his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. His physical running style was a key factor in the Chargers’ decision to sign him, and his absence will be felt throughout the team.
Quarterback Justin Herbert echoed the sentiment, saying after the Broncos game, ”It’s always too tough to lose a brother like that. And I think you never want to see that from any of your own players or an opponent, and we’re wishing for the best.”
The Chargers (currently with a record of X-X) will face the New York Giants in Week 4 as thay navigate the remainder of the season without one of their key offensive players.
