Chappell Roan will induct Cyndi Lauper into the Rock & roll Hall of Fame at the 39th Annual Induction Ceremony on October 19th in Cleveland, Ohio. The rising pop star will honor Lauper’s groundbreaking career and lasting influence on music and culture.
roan expressed the meaning of the moment,stating,”Women have made so many crucial contributions to music and to rock n roll and a win for one of us is a win for all of us.” She also extended gratitude to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s voting members and her dedicated fanbase, acknowledging their crucial support throughout her career. This induction recognizes Lauper’s pioneering spirit and enduring impact, while Roan’s participation highlights a passing of the torch between generations of influential female artists.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will also honor other 2024 inductees, including Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and Norman Lear as a non-performer. The event will stream live on Disney+ and Hulu.
beyond the induction, Roan has recently launched the ’Midwest Princess Project’ to support trans youth and LGBTQ+ communities. She has also discussed her evolving musical direction, noting she currently has no clear vision for her next album, which she previously suggested could take several years to develop.
