Grammy Award-winning singer Chappell Roan has ended her professional relationship with Wasserman, the talent agency founded and led by Casey Wasserman, following the release of documents linking Wasserman to Jeffrey Epstein, according to a statement posted Monday on Roan’s Instagram story.
Roan’s announcement came after the Justice Department released millions of documents related to its investigation into Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. The released materials included emails showing Wasserman exchanged flirtatious messages with Maxwell more than two decades ago, as reported by CNN.
“As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman,” Roan wrote. She added that “no artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.” Roan emphasized the need for representation that “aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity,” and stated her decision was motivated by a belief that “meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Wasserman, who also chairs the coordinating committee for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, has faced increasing calls to resign from his position following the release of the Epstein-related documents. The Associated Press reported that Roan’s departure from the agency occurred on February 10th.
Other artists represented by Wasserman have also publicly responded to the revelations. Best Coast singer Bethany Cosentino published an open letter on Instagram demanding Wasserman’s resignation, while the band Beach Bunny issued a statement arguing that Wasserman’s actions were “abhorrent and disturbing.” The band Wednesday previously announced its departure from the agency, according to a report from USA Today.
Wasserman has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. CNN reported that his agency and a crisis communication firm representing him have been contacted for comment, but have not yet responded.
