Seoul, South Korea – October 14, 2023 – The animated film ‘Chainsaw⁣ Man ‍Theatrical: Reze-hen’ has surged to‌ the top of the korean box office, displacing the action film ‘Boss‘⁤ after a strong word-of-mouth campaign. Released on September 24th, ⁢’Reze-hen’ reached the ‌number one ⁤position on October ⁣11th, 18 days after its debut, and has held⁢ the lead for three⁤ consecutive days.

Based on the ‘Reze-hen’ ⁤episode ⁣of Tatsuki ‌Fujimoto’s manga ‘Chainsaw Man’ – which boasts a worldwide circulation exceeding 30 million copies – the film‌ follows⁢ Denji, a boy transformed into ‘Chainsaw Man,’ and his encounter with a girl named Reze.

Initially debuting in second place behind Park chan-wook’s ‘There’s ⁢No help,’ ‘Chainsaw Man: Reze-hen’ briefly fell to third place following the release of ‘Boss’ during ⁢the Chuseok holiday. However, positive audience ⁤reception fueled a rapid climb back to the top.

The film surpassed 1 million cumulative viewers on October 5th, its 12th day in theaters – a faster pace than ‘F1: The Movie,’ which reached the same milestone on its 13th day.

According to Sony Pictures Korea, 16% of the film’s audience has opted for ⁣premium viewing experiences in special ‍theaters like IMAX, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema, ⁤contributing to repeat viewings and increased box office revenue. A Sony Pictures official told Yonhap News that “the N-th viewing⁢ craze through special theaters is a factor in boosting box office sales.”

As of October 13th, ‘Boss’ ranked second with 28,880 viewers, bringing its ‍cumulative⁤ total to 2,065,459.⁤ ‘There’s No Help’⁤ followed ‍in third place with 17,150 viewers on the same day, and a cumulative audience of 2,647,594. ‘Chainsaw⁢ Man Theatrical: Reze-hen’ continues its theatrical run alongside the popular anime‍ film ‘Demon Slayer Theatrical: Infinity Castle,’ which ⁤has already‍ exceeded 5 million‌ viewers in Korea.
