CEO Resignation: Astronomer Inc. CEO Steps Down After Coldplay Kiss Video

The chief executive officer of software company Astronomer Inc. has resigned following a widely shared video of him embracing a woman, who is not his wife, at a Coldplay concert. The company confirmed the resignation on Saturday.

In a statement posted on its LinkedIn profile, astronomer Inc.emphasized that its leadership is expected too uphold high standards of conduct and accountability, noting that these standards were not met in this instance.

The company announced that Andy Byron submitted his resignation as CEO, and the board of directors has accepted it. Byron had been placed on leave on Friday, with chief product officer Pete DeJoy now serving as the interim CEO.

Mr. Byron and Astronomer’s chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, were captured on camera during the Coldplay concert in Massachusetts on Wednesday. The clip of their embrace quickly gained viral attention.

A company spokesperson confirmed that only Mr. Byron and Ms. Cabot were the employees featured in the video. The spokesperson did not provide comment regarding Ms. Cabot’s current employment status.

Upon realizing they were being displayed on a large screen inside Gillette Stadium as they embraced, Mr. Byron quickly moved out of view,while Ms. Cabot covered her face and turned away.

Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin humorously remarked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

Internet users swiftly identified Mr. Byron and Ms. Cabot through their social media profiles before the company officially confirmed their identities. – Reuters
