Celtic defeat Hibernian 2-1 after Camilo Durán goal

Celtic Overcome Early Setback at Easter Road

Celtic reasserted themselves at the top of the Scottish Premiership, coming from behind to defeat Hibernian 2-1 at windy Easter Road. Bottom-side Hibs stunned the champions early when Ireland international striker Owen Elding scored in the third minute. Celtic immediately answered through a Jason Kerr own goal before Camilo Durán secured the victory with his 10th goal of the season just before halftime.

Reedijk Suffers Third Straight Defeat Against Celtic

The fixture marked the third straight defeat for recently appointed Hibs boss Marink Reedijk since succeeding David Gray. The Hibs manager spent his preparation reviewing Celtic’s tactical setup, highlighting their willingness to build from the back and deploy wingers into one-on-one situations.

Conversely, Celtic manager Martin O’Neill evaluated the afternoon as a significant test of character under difficult weather conditions tied to Storm Boelo. Sky Sports reported that O’Neill labeled the performance his side’s best win of the season given the circumstances, the weather, and the early deficit.

Kasper Hogh Struggles in Return to Starting Lineup

Celtic’s lineup adjustments included the return of £11 million forward Kasper Hogh to the starting XI. Hogh struggled to find his footing, missing multiple close-range opportunities before being substituted in the 64th minute. Sky Sports analyst Kris Boyd remarked on the broadcast that if Celtic had not invested heavily in Hogh, questions would linger about whether the club would continue persevering with a player offering little return.

Injury concerns also shadowed the champions. Substitute Alistair Johnston made his return from a recent layoff, but his appearance lasted barely 20 minutes before he was forced off again. Hibs utilized late tactical shifts, sending centre-back Grant Hanley up front in the 82nd minute to pressure Celtic’s defense in the closing stages.
