Celia Imrie and Fidelis Morgan on Their Travel Book and Traitors

Celia Imrie and Fidelis Morgan on Their Travel Book and Traitors

October 9, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Actress Celia Imrie and writer Fidelis Morgan are collaborating on a book titled “The Elegant Hustler: Adventures From a Life on the Move” while travelling the world together by sea and rail.

A Longstanding Partnership Formed Onstage

The pair first met in 1975 while working for The Royal Shakespeare Company. During their time with the company, Imrie and Morgan realized they both shared a strong affinity for travel and discovered they could maintain an easy camaraderie on the road. Decades later, that creative partnership has evolved into a joint literary project detailing their global journeys.

According to Morgan, travelling alongside the Celebrity Traitors star is straightforward because the two companions are exceptionally well-matched. “The best thing about Fidelis is when things go wrong, she laughs and makes me laugh, and it’s heaven,” Imrie said.

Choosing Rails and Open Waters Over Air Travel

The duo deliberately avoids flying whenever possible, opting instead for transit via rail and sea. Imrie noted that her medical history influenced this preference, explaining that after experiencing two pulmonary embolisms, her doctor advised her to avoid flying if possible. “I’m very happy to avoid airports,” Imrie said.

Opting for ground and maritime transit has also exposed the pair to unique wildlife along their routes. Morgan highlighted the distinct sights available from passenger cars, noting that American train journeys offer views that cannot be replicated from a highway or an airplane. “We’ve seen the wildest of animals — alligators and roadrunners, bears, orange pigs — and eagles,” Morgan said.

Connecting With New Audiences Through Television

Imrie’s recent visibility has expanded significantly following her appearance on the BBC hit series Celebrity Traitors. The 74-year-old actress, whose extensive credits range from the television program Dinnerladies to the Bridget Jones films, stated she was “so happy” the series introduced her work to new generations of young fans.

Morgan observed that the strategic television program served as an instructive broadcast for younger viewers. “Traitors was a very early lesson in psychology for young people,” Morgan said. Imrie competed in the 2025 Celebrity Traitors game alongside eventual winner Alan Carr.

Festival Appearance Scheduled for October

Imrie and Morgan will discuss their upcoming book and travel experiences during an appearance at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on Friday, 16 October.
