Celebrity Traitors Adds 21 Stars and More Potential Traitors
Twenty-one famous faces will step into Claudia Winkelman’s castle when The Celebrity Traitors returns on Thursday 1 October 2026 at 9pm.
Celebrity Cast Expands to 21 Stars
Last year 19 famous faces entered the castle and three initial traitors were chosen in the turret. For the 2026 celebrity run, producers expanded the cast to 21 stars following a reported last-minute recruitment drive.
This larger roster includes comedy duo and best friends Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, Hollywood actor Michael Sheen, model Jerry Hall, 23-year-old Game Of Thrones actor Bella Ramsey, Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh, and Amol Rajan. The expanded headcount changes the dynamics of the round table discussions, building on strategies like rugby union player Joe Marler’s ‘Big Dog’ theory from the previous outing to create new alliances and confrontations.
Shifting Power Dynamics Behind Castle Walls
Behind-the-scenes adjustments point toward a major shift in the balance of power within the castle walls. While Claudia Winkelman traditionally selects three players to wear green cloaks, reports indicate that nearly one in three contestants could be a traitor this year, potentially pushing the number up to seven players, though the BBC has not officially confirmed this figure.

A show insider told The Sun that unlike last year’s trio who remained unchanged throughout the run, the new series introduces a severe upset in how the game operates. BBC director of entertainment Ed Harvard spoke at the Edinburgh TV festival to note that the paranoia among the cast is off the scale, adding that the series features real tears and unexpected events that have never been seen before on the program.
Rule Shifts May Diverge from Previous Strategies
Producers have kept precise mechanics under wraps. However, the combination of a larger contestant pool and potential rule shifts suggests the show will diverge from previous winning strategies.
Speculation centers on whether the format will incorporate secret roles similar to the 2026 civilian series, where Fiona Hughes went undercover in a red cloak. The upcoming episodes test whether the faithful can secure a victory against an altered distribution of traitors.
