Celebrity Traitors Series 2 returns to BBC with 21 famous contestants
The Celebrity Traitors returns to the BBC for a second series, featuring 21 famous contestants playing a murderous game for a £100,000 charity prize. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the extended 75-minute debut episode airs at 20:00 BST on Thursday, following the huge popularity of the first series.
The Line-Up and Stakes at the Round Table
Viewers will see a mix of actors, musicians, comedians, and broadcasters take their places at the round table alongside host Claudia Winkleman. This year’s cast of 21 contestants—two more than the previous outing—includes actors Michael Sheen, Richard E Grant, Bella Ramsey, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney. They are joined by models and musicians such as Jerry Hall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and James Blunt, alongside comedians Romesh Ranganathan, Rob Beckett, Joe Lycett, James Acaster, Joanne McNally, and Ross Kemp. Broadcasters and content creators Amol Rajan, Maya Jama, Professor Hannah Fry, and King Kenny round out the roster.
The celebrities are competing for a £100,000 cash prize destined for charity. According to executive producer Sarah Fay, speaking at the show’s press launch, the production team always wants to push the envelope with elaborate tasks and cultural references. The final prize fund will depend on how well the contestants perform during these missions, regardless of any ongoing tensions regarding who is a faithful and who is a traitor.

Behind the Scenes of the BBC Production
The journey begins in the show’s trailer as contestants arrive at a church in a fleet of black cars before traveling to the castle. While everyone wears blindfolds, Claudia Winkleman selects her traitors. The group then tackles their first mission in a lake while wearing wetsuits, prompting Winkleman to deliver an ominous warning: fame will not save them.
Speaking about her hands-on involvement during filming, Winkleman described being entirely absorbed by the contestants’ actions via monitors in her room. Ed Gamble, who hosts the BBC Two spin-off show Uncloaked, noted that he also watched hours of footage daily while eating his breakfast.
Comedians and Rivals Prepare for Betrayal
As the premiere approaches, the contestants have begun speaking about the inevitable psychological warfare of the game. Comedian Romesh Ranganathan stated that despite being best friends with fellow comic Rob Beckett, he would have no problem turning on him. Other comic contestants, including James Acaster, expressed awareness that their profession might put them immediately under the magnifying glass.
The first series of Celebrity Traitors, won by comedian Alan Carr, ranked as the most-watched TV program of 2025 in the UK with 15 million viewers, setting high expectations for the expanded second run.
