‘Celebrity Race Across The World’ Filming halted Mid-Race Following BBC Order
Filming of the BBC’s Celebrity Race Across The World has been temporarily suspended after the broadcaster was reportedly ordered to stop production. The disruption occurred during the current series, which sees celebrities navigate a 5,900km route through Central America, from Isla Mujeres, Mexico, to Península de La Guajira, Colombia.
The halt to filming throws the competition into chaos for the participating celebrity teams, including Roman Kemp and his sister Harleymoon. The BBC confirmed the pause but has not yet disclosed the reason for the sudden stop order. Contestants have been stripped of lavish transport, smartphones, and bank cards, relying instead on limited budgets and local transport.
The current series, described by the BBC as taking the race through “one of the most diverse and visually stunning routes yet,” began with teams racing from the Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres. The broadcaster previously stated the journey would test relationships as participants “discover the world, and themselves, in ways they never expected.”
“Our familiar faces will say goodbye to lavish transport, smartphones and bank cards and instead must rely on limited budgets, local transport and their own resourcefulness, as well as the kindness of strangers,” the BBC added.
Celebrity race Across The World airs Thursdays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
