Cathrine Knudsen Starts Final Phase of Breast Cancer Treatment
Artist and former TV 2 personality Cathrine Knudsen, 52, shared an update on Instagram detailing that she has started a new round of chemotherapy for breast cancer, a milestone she admits she dreaded facing.
Facing a Demanding Treatment Milestone
Knudsen revealed on Instagram that she has entered the final stretch of her chemotherapy regimen, stating that the period leading up to this new round required significant mental energy. “New week with a new cure. Yet another milestone! Started on a new cure that I have dreaded very much,” she wrote. According to her post, the uncertainty and thoughts regarding how the medication would affect her took up considerable space recently, though she noted that another plaster has now been torn off as she progresses through the therapy.
The 52-year-old artist mentioned that while the treatment has gone fairly well so far, the emotional weight has been prominent. “Feels like it has gone quite well, but the emotions have been sitting outside the body. It’s tiring, but I have to let them have a place too,” she shared, alongside images from the hospital, sunsets, and forest walks.
Looking Ahead to the Holidays
Despite the challenges of the ongoing medical schedule, Knudsen has set a clear timeline for the completion of her care. She expressed hope of finishing treatment by Christmas Eve, describing that outcome as a significant holiday gift. Throughout the process, she has sought out moments of calm and energy by filling her days with activities she enjoys, though she added that right now there is one primary personal wish: getting her hair back.
Knudsen first disclosed her diagnosis publicly in late July via Facebook, explaining that examinations over an eight-week period confirmed breast cancer and established a treatment plan. That initial phase involved two operations and a planned six months of chemotherapy. At the time, she expressed readiness to begin the process to remain cancer-free and reduce uncertainty, entering the treatment in peak physical form.
Reflecting on Public Support and Prior Background
Following her initial announcement, Knudsen received an influx of supportive messages and greetings, which she later described as overwhelming and deeply moving. She expressed gratitude for the positive responses, noting that reading the messages brought positive tears. As she continues the regimen, she intends to return to her work in ceramics and art, alongside physical movement and proper nutrition.
Many followers also recognize Knudsen from her period in the 1990s as the first official girlfriend of Crown Prince Haakon, with whom she was in a relationship from 1994 to 1996. Following their separation, she built an established career as an independent artist with her own studio and a focus on ceramics and fine art.
