Central African Republic Views Casablanca Roundtable as Pivotal for National Development
Casablanca, Morocco – Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin-Archange Touadéra expressed profound gratitude to King Mohammed VI of Morocco for the support that contributed to the success of the recent investment roundtable held in Casablanca. The event, focused on securing funding for the CAR’s National development Plan (PND) 2024-2028, successfully mobilized $9 billion in pledges.
President touadéra, speaking at the closing of the two-day event, stated that Casablanca would be “engraved in collective memory as a new stage in the transformation of the Central African Republic.” He emphasized the roundtable provided a crucial platform for the CAR to articulate its vision for the future, demonstrating to the international community that the nation is not simply resource-rich, but also a hub of “resilience, innovation and opportunities.”
The primary goal of the meeting extended beyond financial commitments, according to President Touadéra. He highlighted the importance of building trust and forging a new era of cooperation with technical and financial partners. The CAR,he affirmed,is committed to playing a significant role in regional and international affairs.
The Casablanca roundtable, he concluded, represents “an alliance between the ambition of a people and the confidence of their partners.”
The closing session was attended by prominent figures including Omar Hilale, Morocco’s Ambassador and permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Mohamed Methqal, Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI).Representatives from various regional and international organizations, donor countries, and the private sector were also present.
