Carville Slams Maher, Defends ‘Crazy’ Anti-Trump Stance & Rages at Trump’s Mueller Comment

March 24, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Democratic strategist James Carville launched a scathing critique of former President Donald Trump and comedian Bill Maher during a recent appearance on the “Politics War Room” podcast, responding to Trump’s comments regarding the late Robert Mueller and challenging Maher’s assertions about “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Carville directly confronted Maher, telling him, “Do me a favor, Bill. Try to receive your head out of Bari Weiss’s a–.” The exchange followed Maher’s criticism of Carville, who he characterized as exhibiting “crazy old man” behavior and suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” suggesting Carville represents a disconnected segment of political media.

Carville addressed Maher’s critique head-on, summarizing the argument that he and others are consumed by “blind rage” and an inability to move past their opposition to Trump. He then embraced the label, stating, “I’m going to agree with you. I’m crazy… a lot of people like me, we’re crazy.”

The strategist described a visceral reaction to the current political landscape, stating that he and like-minded individuals “wake up at 2 o’clock in the morning, throwing s— against the wall. I can’t believe this motherf—– is the President of the United States.” He posited that this perceived “craziness” might, in fact, be a sign of sanity.

Carville also took issue with Trump’s reaction to the death of Robert Mueller, noting Trump publicly stated he was “glad.” He questioned whether this response should alter perceptions of the situation. According to a report from Fox News, Carville asked, “Will you be stuck with being insane about this?”

The White House responded to Carville’s comments with a sharp rebuke. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital that Carville is “a stone-cold loser who clearly suffers from a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut-sized brain.”

Carville reiterated his unwavering stance, stating that he and others “are not going to change… we’re not going to back off, not one iota.”
