Carson Daly Named Co-Anchor of Saturday TODAY as NBC News and CNBC Announce Key Changes

Carson Daly Named Co-Anchor of Saturday TODAY as NBC News and CNBC Announce Key Changes

November 7, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Carson Daly is expanding his broadcast schedule to six days a week as NBC News installs him as the new co-anchor of Saturday Today beginning November 7, 2026. Daly will maintain his existing weekday duties while stepping into the weekend rotation alongside co-anchor Laura Jarrett, feature anchor Joe Fryer, and meteorologist Angie Lassman.

The appointment fills a programming gap left by Peter Alexander. Alexander departed the Saturday program in March and subsequently left NBC News after a two-decade tenure to join MS NOW. For Daly, the Saturday assignment adds to an extensive portfolio at the network that includes hosting the digital hub the Orange Room since 2013 and executive producing and hosting The Voice.

Programming Shifts Across CNBC and Digital Expansion at MS NOW

The anchor shuffle arrives amid broader executive changes at CNBC and digital expansion at MS NOW. CNBC signed a long-term agreement with Jim Cramer that includes a scheduled 2027 rollout for a premium subscription tier of the CNBC Investing Club. Todd Bonin, vice president of programming and senior executive producer, assumed leadership of Business Day from 5 a.m. to noon ET. Sandy Cannold took over oversight of the network’s programming from noon to 6 p.m. ET.

Additional dayside adjustments placed Jason Gewirtz in the Digital Control Room. Anne Tironi continues to oversee Squawk Box, while Lisa Villalobos manages all three hours of Squawk on the Street; both report to Bonin. Maria Boden took charge of Fast Money alongside her existing duties leading Closing Bell: Overtime. Matt Quayle transitioned from The Exchange and Power Lunch to a new role dedicated to cross-platform content development.

Meanwhile, MS NOW launched a brand campaign titled “Now There’s More That Unites US” and expanded its direct-to-consumer platform, MS NOW Membership, to connected TV hardware including Roku, Apple TV, Samsung, Google TV, and Amazon Fire TV. Subscribers can now stream the 24/7 live linear feed and access on-demand programming without a traditional cable package.

Lacy O'Toole Expands Newsgathering Operations

Newsgathering operations under Lacy O’Toole expanded to incorporate the network’s Specials unit, bringing all correspondents under her direct reporting line with the exception of strategic verticals managed by Max Meyers. Correspondents based in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco report to MC Wellons and Christina Passariello, respectively. Ken Brown took charge of the Investigations unit, with Scott Zamost and Paige Tortorelli reporting to him.

Carson Daly’s Broadened Media Portfolio and New Saturday Role

NEW YORK – November 5, 2026 – Carson Daly has been named co-anchor of NBC News’ Saturday TODAY. Daly will debut alongside co-anchor Laura Jarrett this Saturday, November 7. Daly will hold down his Monday-through-Friday TODAY responsibilities while simultaneously stepping onto the weekend morning broadcast team. Daly also serves as executive producer of The Voice and the newest edition of the franchise, The Voice: Celebrity. Carson has been an integral part of the TODAY family for the past 13 years, and we are thrilled that our viewers get to spend one more day of the week with him, said Libby Leist, Executive Vice President of TODAY and Lifestyle, adding that Carson and Laura make a great team, and we can’t wait for this fresh new chapter of Saturday TODAY. I’m thrilled to add Saturday TODAY to my weekday morning schedule, said Daly, who added, My kids asked if I’ll still make pancakes. I told them yes, but I’ll be making them for Laura, Joe and Angie instead, and noted he is equal parts grateful and excited for this opportunity. Matt Carluccio serves as executive producer of the weekend editions of TODAY. Daly joined TODAY in 2013 as host of the Orange Room and became known for his Pop Start segment. During his tenure, he has conducted interviews across music, sports, entertainment, political and medical newsmakers, and everyday heroes, while serving on the Board of Directors for Project Healthy Minds. He finished hosting his 18-season, 2,000-episode run on NBC’s late-night program Last Call with Carson Daly back in 2019. The celebrated program relied on a documentary-style format and welcomed an array of high-profile guests like Elton John, Robin Williams, Alicia Keys, Dave Chappelle and Angelina Jolie. Earlier in his professional journey, he brought MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL) to life as co-creator, host and executive producer, turning the daily music video countdown into a cultural milestone that drew major stars such as Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Eminem.
