Carolyn Ann Yocom, an 80-year-old resident of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Our House Memory Care in Austin. Born on January 12, 1946, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Martin and Ingebor (Oakland) Broitzman, she grew up in the Glenville area and graduated from Glenville High School before marrying Ronald Yocom at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Austin.
Life and Career in Austin
Yocom spent many dedicated years serving as the program coordinator for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) office, a position she maintained until her retirement in 2007. Following her retirement from the FSA, she continued working with the public through a position at Hallmark, where she restocked greeting cards. Outside of her professional life, she maintained an active schedule that included bowling, golfing, sewing, and tending to her garden. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Yocom Is Survived by Children and Grandchildren
Yocom was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ingebor Broitzman; her husband, Ronald Yocom; her sister, Marlene Nelson, and husband David; an infant sister, Dorothy Broitzman; her brother, Duane Broitzman; and her great-nephew, Holden Broitzman.
She is survived by her children, Windy Yocom (Alex Riddle) of Austin, and Greg Yocom (Shelley) of Austin. Her surviving grandchildren include Hunter Yocom (Abbey), Grace Riddle (Carter), and Laura Pfeil (Shawn). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Quinn Pfeil and Simon Pfeil; her sister, Betty Broitzman; her sister-in-law, Deb Broitzman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service Details
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
