New York, NY – Tony Award nominee Carmen Cusack delivers a powerful rendition of “The Church of Baseball“ in newly released rehearsal footage from the upcoming stage adaptation of Bull Durham. The musical, currently in previews, opens off-Broadway at Music box Theater on December 12th.
The song, a pivotal moment in both the 1988 film and the musical, encapsulates the spiritual connection many have with the game. cusack’s performance highlights the emotional core of Annie Savoy, the character who delivers the monologue-and song-about baseball’s enduring mythology. Bull Durham brings Ron Shelton’s original screenplay to the stage, complete with music and lyrics by Susan Werner.
