Candace Cameron Bure Addresses Online Criticism After Deleting Swimsuit Photo
Candace cameron Bure, known for her roles in Hallmark and Great American Family Christmas movies, removed a recent swimsuit photo she posted to social media following negative comments about her appearance. Bure clarified she was wearing a one-piece swimsuit, not a bikini, but ultimately decided the online scrutiny wasn’t worth the distress.
The incident highlights the ongoing issue of body shaming faced by public figures,and Bure’s response underscores the challenges of navigating social media while maintaining a healthy body image. Bure has been open about her struggles with bulimia, a battle she began at age 18, and this latest experience appears to have reinforced her boundaries regarding public discussion of her body.
Bure explained her decision to delete the photo, stating, “I was taking advantage of the end of summer. I was having fun. It wasn’t my swimsuit or my body [that was the issue]. but the comments focused on this. It wasn’t worth it. I removed it.”
The actress and mother of three has previously discussed her long-standing issues with body image and eating disorders. “I developed a food disorder at the age of 18,” Bure shared during a July episode of her podcast, Candace Cameron Bure. “It was a question of stuffing yourself and serving.I am bulimic. And I always say that I am bulimic.”
Bure also revealed the constant mental effort required to manage her condition, explaining, “Thoughts, whether I do it or not, never leave me. I always need tools to say: ‘No, Candace, we’re not going to do this.'”
