Canadian Collegiate Reduced to 36‌ Holes by Weather; Michigan Fifth after 18

AURORA, ontario – Inclement weather has forced⁣ a reduction to 36 holes at the Canadian ​Collegiate Invitational, following‍ the completion‍ of the first round Tuesday at the Aurora Golf‌ Club.The University of Michigan women’s golf team sits⁣ in​ fifth place after ⁢day ⁣one, carding⁤ a team score‍ of 295.Kent ⁣State leads the tournament at 281 (-7).

The shortened ⁤format impacts all 12 competing teams, ⁤including Auburn, Ole Miss, Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan State.The tournament’s outcome will ⁣now hinge ⁢on a single, ‌decisive round of​ golf, intensifying the competition as teams vie for position. Michigan will look to climb the leaderboard⁣ in Wednesday’s final round, building on the ⁤performance of Mara Janess, who finished tied for 11th ‌individually with a score of 71 (-1).

Kent State‘s Veronika Kedronová holds the individual lead after​ shooting a 66 (-6). Auburn’s Anne Fernandez is second at ‍68, ⁣followed by a three-way tie for third between ⁢Leon⁢ Takagi (Kent State), ⁤Charlotte Cantonis ​(Auburn), and Madison Messimer⁣ (Tennessee) ⁢at 69.

Michigan’s team‌ scores included a 73 from Vanessa Zhang, a 75 from Lauren Sung, a 76 from ⁢Sydney Sung, and ⁤an⁢ 84 from Reese Ng. Mimi Guo, competing as an individual, shot a 78.

The second and⁣ final round is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd, with ‍a 9 a.m. ‍shotgun start.
