Canadian Teen Anna Huang Claims Victory at La Sella Open
DENIA, Spain – sixteen-year-old Anna Huang of Vancouver, Canada, secured a commanding win at the Ladies European Tour’s la Sella Open on Sunday, finishing with a 3-under 69 in the final round to triumph by seven strokes.
Huang’s impressive performance throughout the four-day tournament culminated in a total score of 20-under par. She began with an 8-under 64 on Thursday, establishing a momentum she maintained throughout the competition.
France’s Nastasia Nadaud finished second at 13-under par.
Despite adding two bogies to her scorecard in the final round, Huang’s significant lead and five birdies proved insurmountable. Entering Sunday, she had recorded only one bogey across the previous three rounds.
The victory marks a notable milestone for Huang, who turned professional earlier this season. She is the first player under the age of 17 to win on the Ladies European Tour as 2022.
Prior to the la Sella Open, Huang ranked 50th on the Ladies European Tour order of merit. She recently tied for seventh at the Swiss Ladies Open and has earned approximately $56,000 CAD through 14 events this year.
Huang has also qualified for two major championships on the LPGA Tour – the U.S.women’s Open and the AIG Women’s Open – and has received an exemption to compete in the CPKC Women’s Open in Mississauga, Ontario.
