Call of Duty 2026: Infinity Ward’s Bold Reinvention – A Fresh Start for the Franchise
Infinity Ward has appointed new studio leadership as the developer prepares for its upcoming project slated for 2026. Jack O’Hara and Mark Grigsby have assumed the roles of studio heads, tasked with overseeing the next entry in the Call of Duty franchise.
Both leaders have long-standing histories with the studio. O’Hara has been with Infinity Ward since 2012, having previously worked in production. Grigsby, who has a background in animation, first joined the studio in 2005. He later departed for a tenure at Respawn Entertainment before returning to Infinity Ward in 2012.
The leadership transition occurs as the studio aims to maintain its foundational design principles. In recent statements, Grigsby emphasized that the studio’s internal culture remains rooted in its origins. He noted that the team continues to push for the same creative energy that defined the studio during its early years, despite external disruptions in recent years.
"The DNA of that crew still lives in this studio," Grigsby said. "What we created back then, how the vibe was in the studio back then – it’s still something that we push for with our employees here, and what we want the studio to generate."
As the studio moves toward its 2026 release, the new leadership team is navigating the challenge of balancing the franchise’s established identity with the goals of their current project. This includes addressing how the studio will honor the legacy of co-founder Vince Zampella in their future development.
The studio has characterized its approach to the 2026 project as determined, bold, and unrelenting. Current internal efforts remain focused on maintaining this trajectory as they move into the next phase of production.
