Cal Poly Men’s Basketball Bolsters Staff with Tactical Analyst, New Operational & analytics Roles
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Cal Poly’s men’s basketball program has announced several personnel upgrades ahead of the 2025-26 season, including the addition of James Andrisevic as the program’s first tactical analyst, and elevated roles for Hayden Jory and Sathish Kumar. The moves aim to enhance the team’s coaching staff and analytical capabilities as they prepare to build on a accomplished 2023-24 campaign.
Andrisevic joins the Mustangs after a second stint as an assistant coach with the G League’s Santa cruz Warriors.At Cal Poly, he will focus on practice and game film study, and integrating statistical data to improve on-court performance. His international coaching experience includes head coaching positions with Japanese clubs Ibaraki Robots (2023) and Hiroshima dragonflies (2017), as well as assistant roles with Japan’s Shibuya Sun Rockers (2022-23) and Kyoto Hannaryz (2016-17). He also served as an assistant with the G League’s Northern Arizona Suns (2018-19) and as head coach of BC Prievidza (Slovakia,2012) and Asker Aliens BC (norway,2011-12).andrisevic is a graduate of Arizona State, where he lettered from 2002-05.”James has great experience in coaching the modern game at the professional level,” said Head Coach John DeGeorge. “He’ll be a tremendous asset as we work to make sure we’re utilizing the best techniques and strategies in defending modern offenses.”
Hayden Jory transitions into an operational support role focused on player growth, equipment, and travel, following the completion of his four-year playing career at Cal Poly, where he made 72 appearances. Jory graduated in May with a degree in sports management.
“Hayden showed a high-level understanding of our concepts as a player and had the respect of everyone in the locker room,” DeGeorge stated. “He’s going to make a tremendous coach and we’re grateful he’s starting his professional career with us.”
Sathish Kumar has been promoted from student manager to director of analytics, where he will deliver data-driven insights to the coaching staff through analysis, software development, and film breakdown, supporting decisions related to game strategy, roster construction, and player development.
“Yash showed last season his value in film breakdown and statistical analysis as a student manager,” DeGeorge said. “We’re thrilled he’ll be returning in an elevated role to help our program get to the next level.”
Cal Poly is set to begin preparations for the 2025-26 season on Monday, September 22. The team returns seven letterwinners from last season’s squad, which ranked third nationally among 355 NCAA Division I programs with 11.5 three-pointers per game and 19th with 82.1 points per game.
