The Cáceres Chamber of commerce presented its Excellence Awards for Business Trajectory 2025 to five distinguished entrepreneurs on Tuesday, june 17, 2024. The honorees included Eugenio Hernández Ramos of Eugenio Cranes, Pedro Rodríguez Santano of the Santano Group, Antonio Garrido Domínguez of Garrido Pavements, Antonio Ruiz Torres of bodegas Ruiz Torres, and Nicasio López Bote of finalima. The awards, held at the Chamber’s headquarters in Cáceres, recognized these individuals’ important contributions to the province’s economic vitality.
Guillermo Santamaría, the Minister of Economy, Employment, and Digital Transformation of the Board of Extremadura, emphasized the fundamental role of family businesses as drivers of economic development, social cohesion, and employment within Cáceres. He highlighted the ongoing “aspiring” generational plan, ‘Extremadura Continues,’ involving both the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Agriculture and Enduring Development.
Extremadura’s Commitment to Business Growth
Santamaría noted that the recognized companies represent stories of perseverance, established trajectories, and dedication to the region.He also mentioned measures already in place, such as tax reductions for companies and freelancers, and enhanced hiring programs, with over 9,300 applications for stable employment promotion and 11,000 applications across five programs aimed at self-employed individuals.
More than 128 million euros have been mobilized in regional incentives to facilitate investments that modernize the productive landscape. The second call of the consolidapyme program, which includes certifications with NATO, provides companies with tools to succeed in the defense business sector. Additionally, four million euros are available for business modernization, enabling self-employed individuals to upgrade facilities, improve processes, and enhance competitiveness.

Key Economic Indicators Show Positive Trends
Extremadura’s business sector continues to show dynamism, reflected in key economic indicators. The Industrial Production Index (IPI) in Extremadura experienced a 7.4% increase during the first quarter of 2025, significantly outpacing the national average of 1.5%. Moreover, the business figure in the services sector increased by 2.7% year-on-year between January and March.
Santamaría emphasized that certainty and stability are crucial for business decision-making. The business confidence index has risen again in the second quarter of 2025. Extremadura has also achieved a historical milestone by reducing unemployment to 68,635, the first time it has fallen below 70,000. In the last year,1,350 new companies have been created,and 581 new freelancers have registered,with a record number of 27,732 active autonomous women.

Industry shows the best monthly performance relative to its weight, despite a slight fall this month. Construction shows the highest decrease in interannual terms, aligning with positive indicators observed in the sector.
