BYD Qin Plus 2025 Interior and Specs Revealed
BYD is overhauling its best-selling Qin Plus sedan with a larger body, revised interior layout, and a choice of plug-in hybrid or all-electric powertrains, aiming to reverse a steep sales decline that saw monthly deliveries drop sharply through the third quarter of 2026, Híbridos y Eléctricos reported.
Qin Plus Interior Incorporates Customer Feedback
The third-generation Qin Plus adopts the latest design language from the brand’s Dynasty family. Lu Tian, general manager of sales for the Dynasty family, stated that the interior layout incorporates direct customer feedback gathered by the automaker. The cabin features a two-spoke steering wheel, semi-concealed air vents, soft-touch materials, and a floating central display atop the dashboard. The presentation model featured a blue-and-white dual-tone finish accompanied by a wireless phone charging pad ahead of the central armrest.
Dimensions have grown significantly compared to the outgoing model. The vehicle stretches 4,840 millimeters long, 1,900 millimeters wide, and has a 2,800-millimeter wheelbase. This represents an increase of 75 millimeters in length, 63 millimeters in width, and 82 millimeters in wheelbase. With these measurements, the sedan moves out of the midsize class and approaches European D-segment dimensions, providing expanded room in the rear seats.
Hybrid Variant Offers Combined Range over 2,000 Kilometers
BYD will offer the new Qin Plus in both battery-electric and long-range plug-in hybrid configurations. The plug-in hybrid DM-i variant pairs a 101-horsepower, 1.5-liter atmospheric gasoline engine with a 163-horsepower electric motor. Energy is stored in lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with capacities of 16.227 kWh or 24.337 kWh, yielding pure electric ranges of 107 kilometers and 160 kilometers respectively under China’s CLTC testing cycle. Combined fuel and electric range is expected to exceed 2,000 kilometers, though official certification figures remain pending.
Filings with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) confirm that a pure electric variant is also entering production. This model utilizes a 136-horsepower electric motor paired with an LFP battery pack, achieving a top speed of 170 kilometers per hour. Specific battery capacity and range figures for the all-electric version have not yet been released.
New Model Arrives as Sales Momentum Slows
The vehicle roll-out is occurring in distinct phases. BYD previewed the model’s dimensional growth on October 16, revealed the exterior on October 21, and detailed the interior layout subsequently, though pricing and an official market launch date have not been announced.
The redesign comes as the current Qin Plus lineup faces softening demand. In 2025, the Qin Plus recorded 387,315 sales, averaging over 30,000 units per month. However, sales momentum slowed considerably into late 2026. During the first nine months of the year, cumulative sales for the Qin range reached 207,589 units, marking a 54.71 percent decrease compared to the same period in the previous year. September sales for the Qin Plus totaled 10,652 units, contributing to a broader family total of 23,472 vehicles for the month.
